NEW!!! Travel Awards Available for Postdoctoral Trainees Attending the
Annual Meeting
The Chapters Committee of the Society for Neuroscience is pleased to
announce a new program to support postdoc travel to the SFN Annual Meeting
in Orlando, FL. The Burroughs Wellcome Fund will provide $1,250 in travel
expenses to honor outstanding postdoctoral trainees nominated by their
local chapters. Each chapter may submit a single nomination to the SFN
Chapters Committee. The nominee must be first author on an abstract to be
presented at the Annual Meeting. The Chapters Committee will make the
final selection for awards based on the scientific merit of abstracts and
letters of recommendation from the postdoc's mentor and nominating
committees of the local chapters. Deadline for nominations is Monday, July
1, 2002. Application details and forms are posted online at
http://web.sfn.org/content/Programs/Chapters2/PostdoctoralTravelAwards/index.html
Please submit your application electronically, in one file, to me by June
19. A selection committee will choose the person selected to be nominated
by NSP. Oour nominee will then be responsible for assembling and
submitting the application to SFN, which looks quite easy. Note that a
letter from advisor is required, so please plan ahead.
Items to include in the application to me:
1) CV
2) abstract for SFN 2002 presentation
3) description of research at the length requested in the application (see
web site)
