Shown below is a schedule of upcoming neuroscience faculty candidate
seminars.
Some of you may have already received the same schedule by other routes,
but if
you have, please note that the time of Dr. Stephen Wicks talk on 2/14 has been
changed from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. Faculty, postdocs, or students
interested
in meeting with one or more of the candidates should contact Dr. Al Feng at
<a-feng@uiuc.edu> or 4-1951 as soon as possible. Thank you.

Cellular Neuroscience Job Talks

All talks will be held in CLSL B102. All candidates will also give an
informal
“chalk talk” detailing their future research plans on the morning after their
primary seminar. With the exception of Dr. Tiesinga’s talk on 3/7 (to be held
in 532 Morrill Hall), all chalk talks will take place in CLSL B126. All
faculty and students are welcome to attend one or both talks by each
candidate.

2/12 12:00 noon - Kevin Currie, University of Chicago, Department of
Neurobiology, Pharmacology and Physiology (“Regulation of voltage-gated
calcium
channels and the control of transmitter release”). Dr. Currie’s “chalk talk”:
9-10:00 a.m., 2/13, CLSL B126.

2/14 2:00 p.m. (changed from 12:00 noon) - Stephen Wicks, The Hubrecht
Laboratory, Ultrecht, The Netherlands (“Molecular genetics of soluble compound
chemotaxis in C. elegans”). Dr. Wicks’ “chalk talk”: 9-10:00 a.m., 2/13, CLSL
B126.

2/19 12:00 noon - Mohammed Akaaboune, Washington University, Department of
Anatomy and Neurobiology (“Neurotransmitter receptor dynamics studied at
normal
and mutant synapses in living mice”). Dr. Akaaboune’s “chalk talk”: 9-10:00
a.m., 2/13, CLSL B126.

2/28 12:00 noon - Yu-Fung Lin, University of California, San Francisco, HHMI
Research Laboratory (“Regulation of ATP-sensitive potassium channel by
PKA-mediated protein phosphorylation and nitric oxide”?). Dr. Lin’s “chalk
talk”: 9-10:00 a.m., 2/13, CLSL B126.

3/7 12:00 noon - Paul Tiesinga, Salk Institute, La Jolla, CA ("Computing with
Neural Synchrony"). Dr. Tiesinga’s “chalk talk”: 9-10:00 a.m., 2/13, 532
Morrill
Hall.

3/14 12:00 noon - Julie George, University of Illinois, Department of CSB
(Molecular function of synuclein?). Dr. George’s “chalk talk”: 9-10:00 a.m.,
2/13, CLSL B126.

3/26 12:00 noon - Lance Zirpel, University of Utah, Department of Neurobiology
and Anatomy (“CREB-mediated survival of deafferented auditory neurons in the
chick brainstem”?). Dr. Zirpel’s “chalk talk”: 9-10:00 a.m., 2/13, CLSL B126.
