Dear Directors of Graduate Study and Department Contacts,

The PhRMA Foundation offers dissertation and postdoctoral fellowships to students who use informatics in investigating human biology and disease processes.  Awards provide up to two years of support.  Dissertation fellowships offer $20,000/year, and postdoctoral fellowships offer $40,000/year.  Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents.  Targeted research areas include genetics proteomics, molecular systems biology, medical (human) pathways and networks, pharmaco-integrative biology, population modeling and simulation, novel approaches to the analysis of big data, and genomics molecular epidemiology.

The dissertation fellowship program operates via a limited submission -- universities may submit only two applications for the national competition.  The Graduate College will administer the campus competition to select the University of Illinois' two applicants.  Students interested in being considered must notify the Graduate College's Office of External Fellowships at ExtFellowships at illlinois.edu<mailto:ExtFellowships at illlinois.edu> by August 1, 2018.

The postdoctoral fellowship program welcomes applications directly from students and does not entail a limited submission.
